“I have read at the time of Socrates there were men very skilled in rhetoric.  They were not skilled debaters, they were skilled lecturers who address one side of the coin one night and his listeners would leave believing that this side was the truth.  And the next night the same lecturer could take the other side of the coin and his listeners would again leave believing the other side was the truth.  These skilled lecturers were termed sophists.  And I have read that Socrates distained the sophists.” JLK

I stand judged as such. We call them politicians and lawyers nowadays. “Plus la change….”
